Burke`s Peerage & Gentry - A Policy Statement
On pages Liii and Liv in the 107th Edition of Burke`s Peerage Baronetage and Knightage Clan Chiefs Scottish Feudal Barons an overview is given on the present position of the Scottish Feudal Baronage
Burke`s have also been asked to provide a clear statement of their policy relating to the inclusion of the genealogies and other details of Scottish Feudal Barons. This is detailed below.
Burke`s will continue in all future book editions and at its website to include the genealogies and acknowledged dignities, including the title of feudal baron and its territorial derivation, of all who can demonstrate their legal right thereto. In the case of feudal barons the normal requirement is that the dignity of baron has either been recognised by the Lord Lyon or has been recognised as valid, and accepted onto, the Scottish Barony Register.
The policy will remain in force until such time as it is required to be reviewed by circumstances.
The Burke`s Peerage & Gentry Record Updating Service
The Burke`s Peerage & Gentry Record Updating Service allows appropriate individuals and families to create, amend and update their family records on the Burke`s Peerage website and in the Burke`s Content Management Database.
Where a Barony has recently been transferred and you would like to create a Burke`s family record kindly contact us at records@burkes-peerage.net.
As required, we will introduce you to genealogical and other professionals and work with you to create, agree and upload your record. Your record will also, of course, feature in any relevant Burke`s Peerage reference works that may be published in the future.
There is an administration charge for the record creation and/or updating service.
